Frequently Asked Questions
What is GomiSense?
GomiSense is an AI-powered mobile app that helps expats, tourists, and newcomers understand Japan's complex waste sorting rules. Simply take a photo of any item and the app instantly tells you how to dispose of it based on your neighborhood's rules.
Which cities and neighborhoods are supported?
GomiSense covers cities and neighborhoods across Japan. Simply set your location in the app and you will get disposal rules specific to your area.
How does the AI scanning work?
Point your camera at any waste item and tap the scan button. Our AI (powered by Google Gemini Vision) analyzes the image and identifies the waste category, then provides disposal instructions specific to your registered neighborhood.
What is the difference between the free and premium plan?
The free plan includes up to 10 AI scans per month plus full access to the waste guide, collection calendar, and recycling map. Premium offers unlimited AI scans, advanced features, and priority support.
How do I cancel my premium subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play. You can cancel at any time from your device's subscription settings. Your premium access will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
What languages does GomiSense support?
GomiSense is available in 8 languages: English, Japanese, Turkish, Korean, Chinese (Simplified), Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Spanish.
My scan result seems incorrect. What should I do?
AI results are best-effort guides. Waste disposal rules vary by municipality and may change. Always confirm with your local municipality's official guidelines. If you believe there's a systematic error, please contact us so we can improve the model.
